Organization

I've been thinking about organization. Why is it that I like to organize things but I'm so terrible at keeping them organized in my own home? I've come to realize that I'm very good at the sort of organization that goes away and leaves me alone, or organizing for storage. What I need to work on here in functional organization, or a system of order that helps us to live and thrive.

Ergh.

Even if you put a big effort into organizing something, it does not magically stay that way, and it is not like you (or any of us) are living in a vacuum where organizing is all you have to worry about...well who would need it anyway if one lived in a vacuum, come to think of it. (Distractions, your names are legion and usually beloved.) But as you infer, organizing needs to have regular attention - become a habit - for it to be maintained well or at all. Maybe if you start with only one or two items, like busting the paper clutter ("hot spot" as Flylady says) every morning after the kids are off to school, for example. Paper clutter has always been huge for me. Even this "retired" person cannot quite get a handle on it, but I hope and pray once we are in our own home again it will become a bit easier. (Soon, soon, maybe even next week, we will move! Yay!) I love you, Sunshine. xoxox
