A pic...

Holy cow, I've been a slacker. What's going on in life? I explained to my grandmother yesterday that every time I sat down to give an update it felt like I was complaining. So have a picture of my cute Freida instead!

My dad had a triple bypass yesterday. He did very well in surgery. Recovery from heart surgery is, of course, a very difficult process and we're all anxious to get a better idea of what that road is going to look like for him.

We still havn't heard back about the medical board.

Today's my anniversary. :) 9 years and counting. We have no plans as of yet, but there was some talk of dinner and mini golf.

Summer is almost here! My kids get out of school on the 15th and that's when the pools will expand their hours to include some morning time. It'll be nice to get into the summer routine which is already including gym, pool, and less formal dining (popcorn in front of the tv!).

At my request, several colleges have sent me information on their nursing programs from Colorado and Kansas. It's difficult to know what plans to make with everything being so uncertain, but hey, it feels like being a senior again to have all these fat envelopes in my mail box. Not that I got any as a senior, but you know what I mean. :) We're seriously considering a small town in Kansas as a landing spot after the Army, where I can finish my nursing degree and the rush hour (minute) will make us weep with relief. I was so proud to drive myself to therapy yesterday, taking highways during rush hour and having almost no anxiety. Yes, simplicity is what we want.

As Man's pain continues, his coping mechanisms have become strained. We're both in therapy again, seeing different counselors since I don't wear a uniform. Apparently active duty people have to see a very specific set of doctors. I'm not totally sure that it's helping quite yet, but at least we know we're trying. The older kids are also seeing a lady who comes to their school once a week from Walter Reed, just as a precaution.

We're hoping that Man can get some leave for a road trip to Colorado in a month or so. We're not sure if they'll let him take any leave at all, let alone enough to get out west and back.
